Definitions of trilinear filtering:
- A level of detail blending technique used in MIP texture mapping. Pixels are taken from multiple MIP maps and blended to produce the final color. The purpose is to remove the bands between adjacent pixels taken from different MIP maps.

- Given two bip-maps previously filtered, the tri-linear filtering filters the next texture, correcting the "blocks" effect. It is one of the most advanced technique of filtering and it needs much processing power.
