- Multiple simultaneous broadcasts that absorb network bandwidth and can cause networking problems (time-outs).

- A LAN software failure mode caused by many stations on the network incorrectly replying to a broadcast packet with another broadcast packet. The result is an extremely high traffic load. A broadcast storm is usually caused by misconfigured network software.
